To get a Washington state drivers license or driving permit you need to take a written driver test. The test is given by computer at a DMV office. It is composed of 25 questions and you must answer at least 20 correct to pass. The fee to take the permit test is 20 dollars and you must pay the fee again each time you take the written test. The first time you fail the test you can take it again in 4 hours. After the first retake you must wait 1 day before taking the exam again. You do not need to schedule an appointment to take the written test, but it is a good idea to give yourself as much time during the day as possible to get it accomplished.
Remember that you could be the best driver in Evergreen State, but if you do not have a fair amount of driver ed you will likely not pass the written examination. Most people who take the written permit test in the US fail it the first time. If you have been studying our practice questions and their rationale then you will have the skills and the confidence that you will need when you go down to the Department of Motor Vehicles and ace the exam. If you don't have the practice then you will probably be going back after 4 hours to take it all over again.
